OLIVE OIL AWARDS FOR QUALITY, HEALTH BENEFITS & TASTE.
LONDON INTERNATIONAL HEALTH CALIM OLIVE OIL COMPETITION:
An established mainstream international olive oil competition will also include a contest focused on olive oils’ health benefits well as organoleptic characteristics. London International Health Olive Oil Competition aims to promote “olive oils with a health claim as a superfood product in international markets across the world. The goal is to promote the idea that the quality of extra virgin olive oil is directly related to health benefits.” Unlike other olive oil competitions, the London competition will include a health benefit score (70%, based on the phenolic concentration) and a taste score (30%).
LONDON INTERNATIONAL QUALITY OLIVE OIL COMPETITION:
The purpose of the competitions is to inform olive-growers, oil producers, oil-pressers, processors and retailers, who distribute their standardized products legally, to preserve and to ameliorate the quality of their branded product by promoting high quality olive oil in every aspect of the spectrum of its use and consumption.
NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL OLIVE OIL COMPETITION:
The Best Olive Oils Yearly Index is the official results website for the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC). Held each April, the NYIOOC is the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil quality contest, and its annual listing of award winners is widely considered to be the most trusted guide to the year’s best olive oils.
THE OLYMPIA HEALTH & NUTRITION AWARDS:
From November 2015 until March 2016, 540 samples of olive oil from 325 producers from Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Italy and USA were submitted to the competition. All samples were analyzed by the NMR method in the university of Athens regarding their content in oleocanthal, oleacein and all other tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol derivatives.
