To win an award in the International Olive Oil Competitions is proof of the exceptional quality of Phileos of Sparta. It is expert endorsement of my brand and it defines Phileos of Sparta as exceptional amongst many other brands on the shelves. I am very proud of the exceptional quality of our Extra Virgin olive oil which has won numerous awards over the years.
In London we won GOLD in 2025, 2024, 2018 and BRONZE in 2017
In New York we won GOLD in 2017 and SILVER in 2025, 2020, 2021
In Canada International we won GOLD in 2023, 2024
In the Olympia Health and Nutrition Awards we won SILVER in 2019, 2021
So what are the judges looking for? Why are we winning so many awards?
These competitions follow a rigorous evaluation process where expert panels of judges, including olive oil tasters, sommeliers, and industry professionals, assess the participating olive oils following a rigorous protocol to examine the sensory characteristics of each sample through blind tastings. The judging panels evaluate the oils based on various sensory attributes, including taste, aroma, balance, complexity, and harmony.
The competitions have a number of categories including quality, packaging and health claim.
Phileos of Sparta won gold in the quality competition, whereby approximately 430 high quality oils from 21 countries were submitted in 2025.
